A quick check before sending your drawing files

Check the revision across the package

Open the PDF and model you intend to send. Compare the part number, revision and a few recognisable features, such as the mounting pattern or connector opening. File names alone can be misleading when a design has passed through several revisions.

If the model and drawing differ, explain the difference in the inquiry. Keep superseded files separate so they are not accidentally treated as alternatives to quote.

Make the supplied components clear

An assembly model may contain bought-in screws, a gasket or an internal board that is included only for reference. Identify which items are in the requested supply scope. For a housing with a lid, tell us whether you need both components or only the body.

Exploded views and a short parts list can be useful when the assembly is difficult to interpret. You do not need to prepare a formal package simply to ask an initial question.

Look for notes outside the model

Material condition, surface finish, thread specifications and inspection requirements may live in drawing notes or a separate document. Include those documents if they control the part. A bare solid model does not necessarily carry them.

Identify features that are still provisional. Mark an unresolved alloy or mounting detail as an open question rather than copying a value from a different part just to fill the gap.

Send files that can be opened

A neutral 3D format can help with geometry exchange, while a readable PDF preserves the drawing layout. Avoid screenshots as the only record of tight dimensional requirements; small text and symbols may become unreadable.

If a package is too large for the inquiry form, start with the drawing or a description and mention the additional files. If confidentiality terms are needed, begin without attachments and arrange those terms first.
