Identify the mating component, gasket approach and working conditions. Mark the sealing surface and agree any flatness, finish and leak-test requirements on the drawing.
A shared datum scheme connects machining, inspection and assembly. Identify the functional locating features and the dimensions that must be controlled relative to them.
Specify thread size, pitch, required engagement and access for machining. Identify blind holes, inserts and any surfaces that must remain free of coating.
Review ribs, wall transitions, draft and access against the proposed process. Local geometry and machining allowance need a drawing-level review before tooling decisions.
